Wildwood Native Park Opening
January 10, 2025
Wildwood Native Park is a 22-acre day use area located along the banks of the San Joaquin River in Madera County. Conservancy staff have executed contracts for both janitorial and security services, which will occur 7-days a week. Contractors will be responsible for basic operations and maintenance of the property by opening and closing the park gates, notifying Conservancy staff of safety concerns or issues, keeping bathrooms stocked and clean, and the property litter-free.
At the November San Joaquin River Conservancy Governing Board Meeting, Conservancy staff requested approval from the Board to open Wildwood Native Park once minimum criteria for opening were met. Conservancy staff worked with volunteers, contractors and Mid-Vally CalFire crews to complete the following punch list items to meet the minimum standards for opening:
- Install an ADA-compliant approach to the restroom
- Reset trail boundary markers
- Define the launch road and parking lot with log barriers
- Remove fire fuels and trim hazard trees
- Repaint signs, the restroom, and picnic tables
- Install required property signage
Wildwood Native Park offers opportunities for low impact recreational activities including launch access to the San Joaquin River, fishing, picnicking, walking trails, and wildlife viewing and appreciation.
