Executive Officers Report
California Tribal Nations Summit The Conservancy participated in the California Tribal Nations Summit in Sacramento, forging meaningful connections with tribal leaders from across the state. This effort strengthens relationships and advances our shared goals of wildlife conservation and habitat restoration.
Cemex Rockfield Modification Project On March 10, the Conservancy submitted comments on the Proposed Cemex Rockfield Modification Project. These comments are accessible on CEQANET and the Conservancy’s website.
Strengthening Partnerships Conservancy staff attended several key meetings with Board Members, City of Fresno officials, and Parkway partners. These discussions are vital in our ongoing mission to build partnerships, enhance collaboration, and ensure the improvement and accessibility of Parkway properties.
Administrative and Contract Updates
Website Accessibility Improvements the Conservancy’s administrative staff continues to update and modernize the website to ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
Database and Policy Modernization Staff have collaborated with CDT, CNRA, and DWR Information Officers to bring the Conservancy’s databases, systems, and policies up to date, ensuring alignment with information security standards.
Social Media and Outreach Conservancy Board Member Stephanie Ruiz has played a key role in developing social media content, tabling resources, and networking tools to support Conservancy staff.
Contracts and Agreements
- Staff met with DGS and CalVets to review SB/DVBE Participation, gaining valuable insights and contacts to maintain program participation.
- The SRCD Wildfire and Nature-Based Solutions Contract has been executed.
- The CCC contract has been amended and is awaiting signatures.
- The amendment and extension of the River Parkway Trust Sycamore Island and Van Buren Unit Operation Agreement are under review with DGS.
Partnerships and Property Updates
Grand Reopening of Wildwood Native Park On March 22, the Conservancy celebrated the grand reopening of Wildwood Native Park in Madera County. The event brought together Conservancy Board Members and staff, elected officials, and the local community. Deputy Secretary for Access and Conservancy Board Member Gloria Sandoval unveiled the new “Outdoors for All” logo, emphasizing inclusivity in outdoor spaces. Special recognition was given to Conservancy Volunteer John Halpin for his exceptional contributions, including the creation of the Conservancy’s new speaker podium.
Property and Safety Updates
- Partnered with CHP to clean up abandoned encampments on Conservancy property.
- Worked with the City of Fresno to provide operation and maintenance (O&M) activities at Jenson River Ranch Extension.
- Coordinated training exercises with the Fresno Fire Department at Liddell.
- Collaborated with River Parkway Trust to conduct temporary grading at Sycamore Island.
- Reviewed and sent updated information to All Trails App administrators regarding Conservancy properties.
- Reviewed State Property Safety Standards with the Department of Justice to ensure compliance.
