Wildwood Native Park Grand Opening Celebration

March 22, 2025

Today, we proudly celebrated the grand reopening of Wildwood Native Park in Madera County—a stunning 22-acre recreation area ideal for family picnics, peaceful walks, wildlife observation, and hand-launching non-motorized watercraft into the serene San Joaquin River.

Madera County Supervisor and Conservancy Board Chair, Bobby Macaulay, commended the incredible efforts of the Conservancy staff in making this property accessible for river enjoyment. Supervisor Macaulay graciously accepted two certificates of achievement on behalf of the Conservancy—one presented by Larry Salinas from Congressman Jim Costa’s office, and another by Dr. Julie O’Kane, representing the City of Madera.

Assemblymember Dr. Joaquin Arambula celebrated Wildwood Native Park’s natural beauty, aptly describing it as a "hidden gem" nestled along the San Joaquin River.

Conservancy Executive Officer Kari Daniska highlighted the numerous activities and rich wildlife experiences awaiting visitors at the park, which is open seven days a week—completely free of charge!

California Natural Resources Agency Deputy Secretary for Access and Conservancy Board Member, Gloria Sandoval, reflected on the profound therapeutic benefits of open, accessible spaces like Wildwood. Her words captured the heart of what this reopening represents: a renewed commitment to providing inclusive outdoor experiences for all.

The event culminated in an exciting moment as Ms. Sandoval and Ms. Daniska unveiled the new “Outdoors for All” logo and officially cut the blue ribbon, marking the beginning of this park’s next chapter.
